Police charge Barnsley man after body discovered in Worsborough Bridge
Police have charged a 60-year-old Barnsley man with murder after a body was found at a property in the Worsborough Bridge area of Barnsley on Friday night.
Officers were initially called at 5.45pm on 14 August in connection with reports of a man missing from Sheffield. Later the same evening, at around 10.16pm, officers attended a property on George Street where a man was discovered deceased. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suspect remanded and family supported
A 60-year-old local man, named by police as Andrew Fowler, has been charged with the murder of the man who had earlier been reported missing. Fowler was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court.
Specialist officers are supporting the deceased’s family, police said. A force spokesperson confirmed that contact has been made with next of kin and that they remain in the care of trained officers while inquiries continue.
