New Delhi: Delhi Police on Monday registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita after a 17-year-old girl alleged she was gang-raped by three men at a park near Kalkaji Temple in south Delhi, police said.
Incident and immediate response
According to the girl's statement recorded by investigators, she and a 17-year-old male friend visited Kalkaji Mandir at about 7 pm on 21 September 2026. After offering prayers, the two went to Astha Kunj Park near the ISKCON temple at around 7:30 pm, when three men in the age group of around 25 to 30 years allegedly approached them and claimed to be policemen.
Police said the men separated the girl from her friend, threatened them and that one of the accused, identified as Asif, allegedly brandished a firearm and a knife before sexually assaulting the girl. Two other men then allegedly assaulted her. The men subsequently threatened the teenagers again and left the scene, the police account said.
