Nanded — Special physiotherapy camp opens at Bhosikar Hospital
A 10-day physiotherapy camp led by Dr. Surabhi Dhanwala of Pune began on September 21 at Bhosikar Hospital in Nanded, offering residents local access to specialised physiotherapy and rehabilitation services. The camp will run from 9 am to 5 pm daily through September 30, organisers said.
The programme is being held under the joint supervision of the Agrawal District Mahila Mandal, Narayan Reiki Satsang Parivar and Rajasthani Mahila Mandal, Nanded, according to the event message released at the inauguration. Organisers said the initiative grew from repeated community requests that patients should not have to travel to Pune for specialist physiotherapy.
“Travelling to Pune can be particularly difficult for a large number of patients,” the organisers’ message noted, explaining the reason behind bringing the team to Nanded.
The camp continues a relationship between Dr Dhanwala and residents of Nanded that organisers say has developed over the past three years. Two earlier physiotherapy check-up camps were organised previously, and the positive response prompted local groups to request a more extensive arrangement this year.
At the camp inauguration, several medical professionals and community representatives were present. Local attendees listed in the programme material included Dr Bhosikar, chest physician Dr Bharat Toshniwal, fetal medicine expert Dr Saurabh Choudhari and Agrasen Samiti president Suresh Gupta. Other guests named were Kalpana Choudhari, Nisha Agrawal, Chanda Kabra, Shanta Kabra, Manju Agrawal, Sandhya Bhartiya, Shobha Toshniwal, Sangita Somani, Sangita Agrawal, Kamal Agrawal and Vandana Bhartiya.
Services, schedule and community context
Organisers said the camp aims to provide professional physiotherapy guidance and treatment relevant to mobility, strength, injury recovery and movement-related rehabilitation. They emphasised that individual treatment depends on clinical assessment of each patient’s condition.

Access to specialist rehabilitation is a recurring concern in districts such as Nanded where tertiary-care centres are concentrated in cities like Pune. For many patients, particularly the elderly and those with mobility limitations, long-distance travel imposes logistical and financial burdens. Local health camps reduce the need for travel and can provide initial assessment, ongoing therapy and referrals where necessary.

Community leaders involved in organising the camp told the programme organisers that earlier check-up camps had highlighted unmet rehabilitation needs in Nanded. The present camp, they said, is intended both to treat individual patients and to build local capacity through consultation and demonstrations of physiotherapy techniques.
Physiotherapy is commonly used to address a range of conditions including post-injury rehabilitation, recovery after surgery, chronic pain management and mobility improvement in age-related disorders. Organisers stressed professional assessment before starting treatment, and said the camp will offer tailored exercise plans and therapy guidance according to each patient’s clinical condition.
Those seeking to attend were asked to visit Bhosikar Hospital during camp hours. The organisers’ announcement did not include details of charges, if any, and residents are advised to contact the hospital or the organising groups for further information.
The camp represents a continuation of small-scale, community-driven healthcare initiatives in Nanded, where local associations often partner with visiting specialists to temporarily bridge gaps in district-level services. If the response mirrors earlier check-ups, organisers expect the camp to reach a significant number of patients who would otherwise need to travel to Pune for specialist physiotherapy.
Further follow-up plans, including potential recurring camps or larger rehabilitation outreach, were not specified in the inauguration message.
