Mumbai, Maharashtra — The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Thursday released the provisional calendar for the February–March 2027 board examinations, announcing that the Higher Secondary Certificate (Class 12) written papers will be held from 8 February to 16 March 2027, while the Secondary School Certificate (Class 10) examinations are scheduled from 15 February to 11 March 2027, the board said in a press note.

Practical and internal assessments to precede written exams

The board said the practical, graded, oral and internal evaluation components will be conducted before the written papers. For HSC (Class 12), these assessments will run from 20 January to 6 February 2027. For SSC (Class 10), they are set for 28 January to 13 February 2027, the statement added.

The press note explained the dates are being published in advance to help schools and junior colleges plan their curriculum and examination-related activities, and to reduce stress for students as they prepare for board assessments.

  • HSC (Class 12) — Practical/internal: 20 Jan–6 Feb 2027; Written: 8 Feb–16 Mar 2027
  • SSC (Class 10) — Practical/internal: 28 Jan–13 Feb 2027; Written: 15 Feb–11 Mar 2027

Exams across nine divisional boards

The board said the examinations will be conducted across its nine divisional boards: Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur and Konkan. It added that a subject-wise timetable for practicals, oral and internal evaluations as well as the detailed written-exam schedule will be published separately on the board’s official website.

Examination Practical / Internal Written
HSC (Class 12) 20 Jan – 6 Feb 2027 8 Feb – 16 Mar 2027
SSC (Class 10) 28 Jan – 13 Feb 2027 15 Feb – 11 Mar 2027

School administrators and junior college principals across Maharashtra typically use the board’s tentative schedule to finalise teaching plans, revision timetables and internal assessment dates. District education officers and school managements are expected to align leave schedules and examination centres according to the dates announced.

Parents and students in urban centres such as Mumbai and Pune and in smaller towns across Vidarbha, Marathwada and Konkan will be watching the board’s subsequent publication for the detailed subject-wise timings and the sequence of papers. The board has said that the detailed timetable will be posted on its website.

For many schools, the January window for practicals and internal evaluations requires co-ordination with external examiners, laboratory access and oral-viva arrangements. Institutions will also need to ensure completion of grading and documentation ahead of the written papers.

Educators in the state often urge students to review the board-issued guidelines once the subject-wise schedule appears, as day-to-day routines — including travel arrangements to examination centres — hinge on precise paper dates and timings.

The MSBSHSE press note did not include examination-centre details or the method for allocation of centres; these operational matters are usually notified closer to the exam dates through divisional offices and school circulars, it said.

Students and parents are advised to keep checking the board’s official web portal for updates and for the formal release of the complete subject-wise timetable and instructions on admit cards, reporting time and permitted items in exam halls.

Further technical details such as evaluation norms, moderation procedures and result timelines were not part of Thursday’s release and will be communicated later, the board indicated.

This announcement follows the board’s practice of issuing tentative dates well ahead of examinations to allow educational institutions and examinees time to prepare and plan logistics across Maharashtra’s varied geography from Pune–Mumbai to the Konkan coast and Vidarbha hinterland.
