Infosys expands Indore campus with large new development block
Infosys on Wednesday inaugurated a 3,30,000 square feet Software Development Block (SDB-2) at its development centre in the Super Corridor area of Indore, a move the IT major said will bolster work on cloud, application development, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and cybersecurity for its global clients.
The Indore centre currently employs more than 3,300 professionals supporting sectors such as Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI), retail, life sciences and manufacturing. Company and government representatives present at the opening underlined the potential of the expansion to deepen the region’s technology ecosystem and create additional opportunities for local talent.
"The expansion will strengthen the centre’s capabilities in cloud, application development, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and cybersecurity to address evolving client requirements," Infosys said.
Local engagement and academic partnerships
Infosys said the enlarged facility will enable it to tap into Central India’s growing talent pool and intensify skilling programmes and institutional partnerships in Madhya Pradesh. The company named IIT Indore, IIM Indore and Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) as key academic partners for collaboration.
- Company focus: cloud, AI/ML, application development, cybersecurity
- Local workforce: more than 3,300 employees at Indore development centre
- Academic partners: IIT Indore, IIM Indore, DAVV
Civic and political visibility
The inauguration drew senior state and local political leaders, underscoring the project’s civic profile. Attendees included Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Indore Member of Parliament Shankar Lalwani and Indore MLA Manoj Nirbhay Singh Patel. Infosys was represented by senior executives including Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka, Executive Vice President Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar and Senior Vice President Niladri Prasad Mishra.
Green building features and campus design
Infosys said SDB-2 aligns with its environmental, social and governance commitments and high-performance green building standards. The facility incorporates measures such as low-energy cooling, smart building automation, rainwater harvesting and wastewater recycling, intended to reduce resource use and operational emissions.

For Indore, already an emerging hub for IT and education in Central India, the expansion is likely to have several local consequences: increased demand for skilled graduates, more contract and vendor opportunities for smaller local firms, and potential pressure on urban infrastructure as the campus scales operations. The company has framed the expansion as part of a broader strategy to build regional delivery hubs that leverage local talent and provide cost-effective services to global enterprises.
City planners and education institutions in Madhya Pradesh have in recent years prioritised strengthening linkages between universities and industry. The named collaborations with IIT Indore, IIM Indore and DAVV could translate into curriculum-alignment, internships and placement opportunities for students, subject to the detailed skilling programmes and memoranda of understanding that Infosys and the institutions may finalise.
While the company did not specify immediate recruitment numbers tied to the new block, the added operational space and stated focus on high-value technology work indicate scope for future hiring in specialised areas such as AI, cloud engineering and cybersecurity within Indore’s labour market.
Shares of Infosys closed lower on the day of the announcement, reflecting broader market movements, but the move reinforces Indore’s position as a growing technology and delivery centre in Central India.
