Large youth congregation at Geeta Bhavan for discussions on religion and practical life

UJJAIN: Geeta Bhavan on Dewas Road will host the three-day Yuva Dharma Sansad from Thursday until 19 September, organisers said, with around 1,700 young students from about 24–25 states expected to take part. The programme will also include roughly 300 scholars, teachers, researchers and religious leaders.

The summit is being organised by Sevagya Sansthanam under the guidance of Acharya Mithileshanandinisharanji Maharaj, who serves as the presiding pontiff and patron of Siddhapeeth Hanumat Niwas in Ayodhya, according to event material released by the organisers.

  • Dates: Three days, through 19 September
  • Venue: Geeta Bhavan, Dewas Road, Ujjain
  • Participants: About 1,700 youth; around 300 scholars and religious leaders
  • Notable attendees: RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat (18 September); Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav (closing session, 19 September)

The Sansad will run eight sessions over the three days — an inaugural session, lectures and interactive sittings — focusing on topics that the organisers describe as religion, philosophy of life and contemporary social concerns. Question-and-answer formats are planned so that young participants may engage directly with scholars and leaders.

"The Youth Dharma Parliament draws its core inspiration from Swami Vivekananda's Chicago address," the organisers said, noting the event's emphasis on practical philosophy and dialogue.

This edition marks the sixth in the series. Previous editions have been held in Kashi, Ayodhya, Mathura, Haridwar and Kanchipuram, the organisers said, and they reported that some 7,100 participants have taken part across all editions since the programme began in Saptapuri in 2018. Organisers also indicated plans to host the next iteration in Dwarka.

Event Yuva Dharma Sansad (Sixth edition)
Venue Geeta Bhavan, Dewas Road, Ujjain
Participants ~1,700 youth; ~300 scholars/teachers
Key visitors Dr Mohan Bhagwat (18 Sept); Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav (19 Sept)

The first day will open with an art exhibition and a book fair themed around the 'spirit of India'. Organisers said fifty of the country's leading publishing groups will participate. Paintings by young artists are scheduled to be displayed across the Geeta Bhavan complex. The day's programme will include a representative dialogue involving delegations from several states.

Among the cultural figures associated with the event are Padma Shri awardee sculptor Advaita Charan Gadanayak. Members of Parliament, convenors and regional coordinators were also named in the event communications; organisers listed MP Anil Firoziya and programme convenor Ankita Jaiswal among those participating in sessions during the three days.

Organisers say the Youth Dharma Parliament seeks to combine philosophical inquiry with practical guidance for young people. For Ujjain, the gathering brings a mix of educational discourse and religious-cultural visibility that could affect local vendors, hospitality services and small businesses around the Geeta Bhavan precinct during the three-day period. City authorities have in past hosted large religious and cultural events and will oversee arrangements including traffic management and security.

Local observers say the Sansad's emphasis on interactive formats aims to cultivate public debate among youth on issues of belief, civic responsibility and contemporary social challenges. The presence of senior figures from religious and political spheres is likely to draw additional visitors and media attention to the city over the weekend.

Further details on session timings, participant lists and public access were to be provided by the organisers at the venue, the event release said.
