Hit-and-run on Delhi–Dehradun NH leaves local youth dead
A 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Tuesday morning after being run over by a speeding truck on the Delhi–Dehradun National Highway in Saharanpur district, police said. The victim has been identified as Himanshu, a resident of Sundarpur village.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sagar Jain told PTI that the incident occurred when Himanshu was travelling for some work and reached the stretch near Manoharpur village. A truck, allegedly travelling at high speed, rammed into the motorcycle and threw the rider about 10 feet onto the road.
According to the officer, the vehicle did not stop. The wheels of the truck ran over Himanshu, resulting in fatal injuries. The driver abandoned the truck at the scene and fled before local police arrived, SP (Rural) Jain said.

Local police reached the site after receiving information about the crash and impounded the abandoned truck, the officer said. Himanshu’s body was taken to the district mortuary for postmortem, and investigators have launched a search to trace and apprehend the truck driver.

SP Sagar Jain provided the account to the news agency. No further details about the truck’s registration, ownership or whether the vehicle was carrying goods were available in the police statement released on Tuesday evening.
