Major factory fire in Katghar; firefighting teams work to contain blaze
A large fire broke out on Monday at the RH International factory located in the Katghar police station area of Moradabad, officials said, as fire teams worked to douse flames and prevent the incident from spreading to neighbouring units. Local authorities reported no loss of life.
Moradabad Chief Fire Officer Rajeev Kumar Pandey told news agencies that around ten fire tenders were engaged at the site and additional vehicles had been requisitioned. "A fire has broken out at the RH International factory. It has been burning for an hour. About 10 fire tenders are currently engaged in firefighting operations from all sides; we have also requisitioned additional vehicles, and the firefighting effort is fully underway," he said.
"The fire should be completely brought under control in about 2 hours. It is a very large area -- the factory is huge. I cannot give an exact figure right now, but it covers a vast area. There has been no loss of life. We are bringing the situation under control."
Firefighters were reported to be operating from multiple directions to contain the blaze. Officials have so far not issued a cause for the fire or an estimate of material loss; further details are awaited as the operation continues and assessments begin once the fire is controlled.
- Location: RH International factory, Katghar police station area, Moradabad
- Response: Around 10 fire tenders deployed; additional vehicles requisitioned
- Casualties: No loss of life reported by Chief Fire Officer
- Status: Firefighting operations ongoing; officials expected control within hours (as per C.F.O.)
The incident comes amid other recent fire-related emergencies in the region: agencies also reported a separate blaze at an under-construction warehouse in Sector 43, Noida, and a earlier fire at a stationary train coach in Shikohabad railway station that required rescue and containment measures. While these are distinct events, they underline recurring demands on firefighting resources across Uttar Pradesh.
Local emergency management protocols require immediate deployment of municipal fire services and, where needed, supplementation with district or state-level resources. In Moradabad the rapid mobilisation of multiple tenders to the Katghar site reflects these procedures. Once the blaze is brought under control, officials will be expected to inspect the scene, establish cause, and begin damage assessment. If hazardous materials or chemical stock were present, specialised teams may be called for decontamination and environmental monitoring.
