Kochi: Loknath Behera will step down as Managing Director of Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) when his term concludes on 30 August, the authority said. The state government has entrusted additional charge of KMRL to Ernakulam District Collector G. Priyanka until a regular head is appointed.
Administrative continuity at a time of expansion
Behera, a 1985-batch Indian Police Service officer who earlier served as Kerala’s Director General of Police, took charge at KMRL in August 2021. His initial appointment was for three years; the government extended his tenure on two subsequent occasions.
