Party leaders finalise grassroots outreach, service drives across Gorakhpur
Gorakhpur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Vinod Tawde chaired a review meeting at the regional party office here on Friday to firm up arrangements for the party's month-long "Seva Sankalp Abhiyan" (September 17–October 17), party leaders said.
The meeting was attended by BJP MPs and MLAs from the region, and focused on a mixed agenda of public service activities, grassroots outreach at booth and Shakti Kendra levels, and countering narratives of opposition parties, according to accounts of the gathering.
- Campaign period: September 17 to October 17, as declared by the party national leadership.
- Planned activities: blood donation drives, distribution of fruits in medical colleges and hospitals, cleanliness drives, visits to old-age homes, and toolkits distribution to artisans.
- Organisational emphasis: reaching excluded households to help them claim government schemes and complete required forms at local booth and Shakti Kendra levels.
Addressing media after the meeting, BJP MP Jagdambika Pal described the first day's activities and the campaign's intent. He said the party had undertaken blood donation drives and prayers for the Prime Minister's well‑being on the opening day, and had carried out welfare measures aimed at the needy.
"Today marks the continuation of the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'—running from September 17 to October 17—as called for by the BJP National President. We are running this campaign for a full month. Yesterday was the first day; while we prayed for the Prime Minister's good health and longevity, we also undertook blood donation drives to help the needy," Pal said.
Pal outlined a sequence of service-oriented activities already conducted or planned in Gorakhpur, saying fruits were distributed in medical colleges and hospitals and toolkits were provided to artisans on Vishwakarma Jayanti. He said a cleanliness drive had been organised and that party workers had visited an old‑age home as part of the initiative.
Uttar Pradesh Minister AK Sharma said the party welcomed Tawde and the state co-in-charge in Gorakhpur and had received their guidance for the campaign, according to reports from the meeting.
Focus on enrolment and outreach at the booth level
Party leaders at the review emphasised a booth‑level mobilisation strategy. A core objective, as described by Pal, is to identify people who remain excluded from government schemes and assist them in completing application formalities at the grassroots.
The campaign combines service delivery with political mobilisation. Senior leaders positioned activities such as blood donation and toolkit distribution as public service, while also instructing workers to step up door‑to‑door contact and administrative help for the marginalised.
According to attendees' accounts, the review also included discussions on countering narratives of opposition parties, particularly the Samajwadi Party and Congress, signalling that the outreach drive will be accompanied by efforts to shape public discourse ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
Local party functionaries were directed to ensure systematic documentation of beneficiaries and to prioritise visible service initiatives that can be sustained through the month. The combination of welfare activities and administrative assistance is intended to broaden the party's reach among vulnerable groups and to translate grassroots contact into improved access to state and central schemes.
The review in Gorakhpur is part of a wider BJP national campaign. Party leaders described the approach as a mix of social service, welfare distribution and political outreach, with a sustained emphasis on booth and Shakti Kendra networks to identify and assist those not yet linked with government programmes.
