Daily morning services to Delhi and Bengaluru resume, airport confirms
Belagavi's air connectivity will improve from 1 October after IndiGo formally notified the Belagavi Airport of restored daily services to New Delhi and daily morning flights to Bengaluru, airport authorities said on Tuesday. The move follows months of representations from industry bodies, public representatives and business stakeholders who had raised concerns after frequencies were curtailed earlier in the year.
According to the schedule communicated to the airport and opened for bookings, the Delhi service will operate in the morning: it will depart New Delhi at 6.15 am, land at Belagavi at 8.40 am, depart Belagavi at 9.10 am and arrive back in Delhi at 11.40 am. The morning Bengaluru flight will reach Belagavi at 8.20 am and depart at 8.50 am. The existing evening Bengaluru service — which operates on selected days — will continue as per the current timetable.
| Route | Arrival at Belagavi | Departure from Belagavi | Frequency from Oct 1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Delhi 4 Belagavi 4 New Delhi | 8.40 am | 9.10 am | Daily |
| Bengaluru 4 Belagavi 4 Bengaluru (morning) | 8.20 am | 8.50 am | Daily |
| Bengaluru (evening service) | 7.25 pm | 7.45 pm | Existing days (Sun, Mon, Wed, Fri) |
Airport controller S Thiyagarajan confirmed the development, saying IndiGo had officially communicated the revised schedule and that ticketing was open. The restoration of the Delhi link and enhancement of the Bengaluru morning service was described as the outcome of persistent appeals by local stakeholders.
"IndiGo had officially communicated the revised schedule and bookings had opened," the airport controller said.
Former chief minister and Belagavi Member of Parliament Jagadish Shettar had taken up the issue with the Union civil aviation minister and IndiGo, according to reports. He said the reductions in frequency had caused inconvenience to entrepreneurs, traders, medical professionals, students and other frequent flyers. Shettar also indicated that IndiGo had suggested the possibility of making the evening Bengaluru service daily in the future.
- Who benefits: business travellers, patients seeking tertiary care, students and trade delegates.
- Operational note: flights operate in the morning, allowing day returns to major hubs.
- Future prospect: airline has not yet confirmed daily evening Bengaluru service but has indicated scope for expansion.
Local industry sources had repeatedly requested restoration of the daily Delhi rotation after the carrier reduced the service to three flights a week. The curtailed schedule had been flagged as a setback for time-sensitive commerce and frequent flyers who rely on early morning departures for same-day connections to other parts of the country.
Belagavi's airport serves a growing catchment spanning north Karnataka and neighbouring districts of Maharashtra and Goa. Improved connectivity to New Delhi and Bengaluru strengthens links for technology, manufacturing and healthcare sectors in the region, as well as for political and administrative travel.
Flights to Navi Mumbai and Hyderabad will continue as per the existing schedule, the airport said. Passengers are advised to check the airline's and the airport's official portals for seat availability and any subsequent changes to timings.
With this restoration, Belagavi regains a key daily morning link to the national capital and an enhanced morning connection to Bengaluru, a development expected to ease travel for frequent flyers and support regional economic activity.
