The Agra Railway Division has announced temporary changes to several train services ahead of the Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations to provide direct and more convenient travel options for passengers to Mathura and Gwalior, Bhaskar English reported.
Temporary extensions for Agra routes
Under the arrangement, Train 11901 Veerangana Lakshmibai (Jhansi–Agra Cantt) Express — which had earlier been extended to Mathura from September 3 — will continue to operate up to Mathura on September 6, the report said. The train is scheduled to depart Jhansi at 4:00 pm, arrive at Agra Cantt at 9:40 pm and leave for Mathura at 11:25 pm, reaching Mathura later that night. On the return sector the service will depart Mathura at 4:30 am on September 4 and 7.
The temporary extension is intended to benefit passengers travelling from Agra to Mathura during Janmashtami, when pilgrim traffic typically increases.
Intercity service extended to Gwalior
Similarly, Train 14212 New Delhi–Agra Cantt Intercity Express has been temporarily extended to Gwalior until September 7, according to the report. The train is expected to reach Agra Cantt at 10:05 pm, halt for 15 minutes and depart for Gwalior at 10:20 pm, with an expected arrival at Gwalior at 1:10 am. The arrangement will also be in place in the return direction, with the train operating from Gwalior from September 4 to 8.
Railway authorities described the measure as part of routine operational adjustments made to meet surges in passenger demand during festival periods. The changes are temporary and apply only for the specific dates announced.
Additional halt at Mohali for Agra–Hoshiarpur service
Beyond local festival traffic, the Agra Cantt–Hoshiarpur Express (Train 11905) has been allotted an additional halt at Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali). The train departs Agra Cantt at 7:10 pm, and the extra stop at Mohali will remain in effect from September 9 to October 14, the report said. The halt is intended to ease travel for passengers heading towards Punjab.
