Granby will welcome a new community hub this month when Nuche Village opens its doors for a free public celebration Sunday, Sept. 27. The open house runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 12 Hackamore Drive, offering residents an opportunity to meet neighbours, explore the village and take part in cultural activities.
Program mixes Indigenous performance, hands-on drumming and a ski film
Organizers say the event places emphasis on what they describe as the shared ties between people and place. The programme features a performance by the Ute Sharing Drum Dance, presented by the Southern Ute Church and the Ute Mountain Ute Nations, with moments designed for audience participation.

Complementing that performance, drummers Andrew Ecker and Monica Patton of Drumming Sounds will lead a beginner-friendly community drumming session. Instruments will be supplied; guests may bring their own percussion if they prefer.
Food, film and neighbourhood engagement
The afternoon will include a screening at lunch of a ski film by Hunkpapa Lakota skier Connor Ryan, who was recognised by Ski Magazine as one of the publication’s 10 Most Influential Skiers of 2025. According to the event listing, Ryan’s work examines the intersection of skiing, nature and Lakota cultural traditions.
Food for the event will be provided by Monini’s Kitchen. The first 50 guests between noon and 2 p.m. will receive free meals. The celebration also includes giveaways, music and entertainment, organisers say.
